Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

This policy explains what information ExeBrowser ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you visit exebrowser.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it plain and honest.

The most important point: your files stay on your device

ExeBrowser runs entirely in your browser. When you load a Windows .exe file (or a folder or zip), the file is read locally using the browser's File API and written into an in-memory virtual filesystem. It is never uploaded to us or to any third party. No network request carries your executable, its data, or anything the program does in memory off your device. When you close or reload the tab, that in-memory filesystem is discarded. We therefore have no access to, and no record of, the files you run.

Information we collect automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics tools collect limited technical information when you visit, such as:

We use this only in aggregate to understand traffic and improve the site. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to measure traffic and usage patterns. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes the technical data described above on our behalf. You can read about Google's practices at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out across all sites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising (Mediavine)

To keep the site free, some pages show ads managed by Mediavine, an advertising management company. Mediavine and its advertising partners (which may include Google) use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure how ads perform, and, where permitted, show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. To do this they may collect the technical information described above, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view. Mediavine's own practices are described in the Mediavine privacy policy.

Ads are never placed inside the games and programs themselves, and they don't appear on the pages of the shareware and freeware games we host. The files you load into ExeBrowser are not visible to advertisers, because they never leave your device.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We and our service providers (Google Analytics, Mediavine and Mediavine's advertising partners) use cookies for analytics and advertising as described above. The games also keep your saves and settings in your browser's local storage; those never leave your device. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling them will not prevent the EXE-running functionality from working, since that runs entirely client-side.

Consent and your choices

Where the law requires it, including in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, advertising and analytics cookies that are not strictly necessary are used only with your consent. Consent is collected through a consent prompt shown to visitors in those regions before such cookies are set. You can give, withhold, or later change your choice through that prompt. Residents of US states with privacy laws, such as California, can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising through the same tools and the opt-out links above. Withholding consent or opting out does not affect the core EXE-running functionality, which runs entirely on your device.

Children's privacy

ExeBrowser is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

The newsletter, if you sign up

The signup box is the only place on this site that asks you for anything. If you enter an email address, we store that address, the date, the page you signed up from, and the two-letter country code your browser request arrived with. That is all — no name, no account, no password. It is kept on Cloudflare infrastructure and is used to send you the newsletter and nothing else. It is never sold, and it is not shared with advertisers.

You can ask us to delete your address at any time via the contact page, and every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. If you never use the signup box, we never have your email address at all.

Data retention and security

We do not store your uploaded files at all. Aggregate analytics data is retained by Google according to the retention settings configured in our Analytics property; advertising data is retained by Mediavine and its partners under their own policies. Because the application logic runs locally, the attack surface for your data is minimal.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to object to its processing. Because we do not collect directly identifying information ourselves, most such requests are best directed to Google (analytics) or Mediavine (advertising) for the data they process. You can also contact us using the contact page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves or as legal requirements change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
